To access this report, please click on the document below titled Research Summary 2009.

A summary outlining activities completed or in progress as a result of the Research and Evaluation Summit held in San Antonio last April can also be found below.

Research

The HIPPY program has resulted in positive outcomes for the participating children and families, as well as for whole communities where the program is being implemented. From this page you can link to summaries and pdf files of HIPPY research reports that look at both children's school readiness and parents' involvement with their children's education.

Research will show you that there is accumulated evidence showing the positive impacts of HIPPY, both on children's school readiness when entering Kindergarten and first grade and on performance in higher grades. The research also shows the impact of HIPPY on parents' involvement with their children's education, as well as other goals of the HIPPY program.

HIPPY USA views data collection, analyses, and dissemination as essential parts of successful program implementation. Therefore, evaluation is a key component of local and national program operations. In addition to national and statewide research, each local program collects client-specific and service-utilization data through the HIPPY MIS (Management Information System) on an annual basis. The annual reports can be accessed as pdf files from this page.

HIPPY USA's current efforts around research include discussing the next national research study with the HIPPY Research Advisory Group and developing evaluation support for local programs with our collaborative partner, the University of South Florida. Their most recent compilation of research briefs can be found here.

Additionally, a recent program evaluation compiled by Alabama HIPPY can be found in the document listing below:
